Do you know what kind of patient you are?

I never thought that there were such differences in the patients that doctors have. At one end of the spectrum is the one who really wants to know every detail about what is going on (I am this kind), what is going to be happening next and "Hey! What was that medicine you just put in my IV?"
Then at the other end of the spectrum there are patients who don't want to know the details...just tell me when and where to show up, I am going to keep my eyes closed, just tell me when it's OK to open them, the doctors know what's best and so they just go along with whatever the doctors ask them to do.
I could not handle it that way...if I don't know all the details of each thing happening along the way, I tend to make things up in my mind and believe me...what comes out of there is usually the worst case scenario thing that could happen (although I am working on it).
I would like to know where you fall in the spectrum...please take a few moments and let me know...see, for me...the more information the better.
Love & Light,
Stacey

I think this is a great question. I'm both a person living with an auto-immune disease for a very long time and a supporter of those facing life-altering diagnosis. The continuum really exists.

Personally I am not the type that seeks out the latest research and treatments. I've handled that by choosing my doctors very carefully.

My current doctor provides me with the latest and greatest outcome studies. Recently he offered up a new treatment with a caveat that the long-term effects weren't noted and if I could hang with the current protocol we could reduce the risk.

I had one doctor in the past who say the disappointment I was experiencing and offered non-western medicine. He called me on a Saturday and told me that he had put a book on hold for me on Ayurvedic Medicine. He offered this as an option.

It's like politics, if you don't have all the experience, make sure you surround yourself with those who are in-the-know. It's can make the difference between struggling and freedom. I've found that creating great working relationships with my doctors has been just as important as any medication I may be prescribed.

I do subscribe to newsletters so that if I do find something of interest I can ask him about it. I feel that by keeping up on integrative medicine also aids in my healing process.
